Founder and speech therapist
Festë Beqa is the founder and speech and language therapist at ORATIO Speech Clinic in Ferizaj. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Health Sciences, specialising in Speech and Language Therapy, in Kosovo, and her Master's studies in Albania.
She is licensed by the Ministry of Health to provide therapeutic services in the field of language and speech. She is also certified in the use of the ABA method and licensed in the use of Professor Kaçka's holistic method (HMK) in the treatment of stuttering.
The approach
The work begins with listening. Before any ability is measured, the family's concern has to be understood: what prompted the appointment, what has been tried, what worries them most. That conversation is not a formality - it determines where the assessment starts.
There is no single programme for everyone. Two children with the same difficulty may need two different plans, because age, pace, motivation and family circumstances differ. The plan is built on the assessment and adjusted along the way according to progress.
Objectives are stated openly and the duration is not promised in advance. That is a deliberate choice: a timeframe given before the assessment would be guesswork packaged as certainty.
Working with parents
A child spends far more time with their family than with the therapist, and most of the learning happens there. For that reason the parent is not an observer of therapy but part of it.
Parents receive concrete guidance: how to speak with the child, how to leave space for a reply, which exercise to do and - just as important - what not to do. Constant correction, pressure to speak in front of others, and completing sentences on the child's behalf weigh heavier than they help.

The clinic
ORATIO Speech Clinic is licensed by the Ministry of Health to practise speech and language therapy and to provide professional services in the field of language, speech and communication.
The clinic is in Ferizaj and sees both children and adults. Sessions are held in English or in Albanian, whichever suits the person being treated.
The name comes from the Latin oratio - speech, word.
